Grysbok - Sharpe's

Raphicerus sharpei sharpei

Distribution: South-eastern D.R.C., Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi and Mozambique.

Size: SH: 50cm, W: 8kg.

Description: There are 2 subspecies of Sharpe’s Grysbok: Northern Sharpe’s Grysbok and Southern Sharpe’s Grysbok.

Northern Sharpe’s Grysbok – A roan coloured animal speckled with white spots and a greyish face.

Sex Determination: Like most of the pygmy antelope the females are slightly bigger than the males, the female Sharpe’s Grysbok does not have horns.

Trophy Assessment: With the current record at 4″ and the Rowland Ward qualifying criteria 1 ⅟₂” it is almost a matter of if you can see  the horns clearly it is a trophy.

Shot Placement: Middle of the body is always the best bet to prevent hitting any solid bones and resulting in the trophy being blown-up.
