Baboon (Chacma)​

Distribution: From South Africa, north-westwards into Namibia. East into Mozambique south of the Zambezi. North into Zimbabwe and Botswana.

Size: SH: 80cm. W: 30kg.

Description: Grizzled khaki or grey to dark brown and black.

Sex Determination: Males have a longer muzzle than the female.

Trophy Assessment: Generally, the big males will have the longer incisors (sometimes the incisors will be worn down on old males). Big and heavy body and well-developed muscular head is normally a good sign of a big male.

Shot Placement: Normally a side-on shoulder shot when standing on all fours, a frontal chest shot when sitting and facing you or back spinal shot when sitting facing away.
