Hippotragus equinus equinus

Distribution: From northern South Africa to Zimbabwe, western Mozambique, Malawi, north-eastern Botswana and eastern Zambia.

Size: SH: 1.5m. W: 260kg.

Description: Very large antelope, rich fawn – reddish- fawn coat. Backwards curved horns (shorter than the sable). Black tufts on ear.

Sex Determination: Both sexes carry horns, males’ horns are longer and heavier than females. Males are bigger and heavier than females.

Trophy Assessment: Mature bulls with horn length around 25”+ is a good trophy.

Shot Placement: Broadside – in the middle of the body straight-up with the front legs.
