Riverside

At S 25° 26’ 25.884” E 31° 57’ 33,617” lies one of the few places in South Africa where YOU can still experience a buffalo hunt the way it is supposed to be.

Riverside is a privately owned 7 413-acre game ranch that borders the Kruger National Park. While hunting buffalo or any available plains game species, the resident herd of elephants will appear every so often. It is not uncommon to encounter lions that have moved onto Riverside from Kruger National Park.

Buffalo, Kudu, Waterbuck, Zebra, Blue Wildebeest, Impala and Bushbuck are but a few of the species available to put on your trophy wish list.  Tom Dreyer Safaris has held the sole concession rights since 2018 and has renewed for the next 6 years.

On Riverside, we don’t just hunt for the spread of the horns but we also pay great attention to age. As a rule, we try not to harvest buffalo bulls younger than 10 years old. Our quota is limited to 6 Buffalo each year to ensure only the old bulls get harvested.

The best way to travel is to take a connecting flight from Johannesburg International Airport (OR Tambo) to Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport (KMIA), from where it is a 45min drive to the lodge

Your accommodation on safari will consist of air-conditioned chalets with en-suite bathrooms nestled among manicured lawns, a rock pool, a large open-plan bar and dining area with a thatched roof.

Laundry and housekeeping is done every day to ensure that a fresh set of clothes is available every morning. Hearty meals are prepared by our top chef, from traditional South African cuisine to whatever request you have for him.
