Description: The only animal where a male is called a “bull” and a female a “ewe”. Part of the spiral horn family 3rd largest in South Africa. Dark grey to chocolate brown coat with white stripes on the body and spots on the lower hind leg, reddish brown shins front and back.
Sex determination: Mature males are dark in colour with spiraled horns and considerably bigger than the females. Females are reddish brown with stripes across the body without horns,
Trophy Assessment: Depending on the area but in general a mature bull and horn size from 27” upwards is a good quality bull.
Shot Placement: Broadside – in the middle of the body straight-up with the front legs.
Frontal – Centre line in the chest.
