Zambia

Arguably Zambia is the ultimate free range hunting destination in Africa. The abundance and variety of game and vast hunting blocks is unparalleled.  There are 4 main hunting areas in Zambia; the Kafue Basin, the Luangwa (which forms the south-western part of the Great Rift Valley), the Bangweulu wetlands and the Zambezi region. Hunting in Zambia is mainly done on Game Management Areas (GMA’s) which border the different national parks.

The Luangwa is known for its high volume of lion, leopard, buffalo and the Cookson’s wildebeest, large numbers of plains game species and an abundance of Elephant.

The diverse flora of the Kafue Basin ranges from thick forest to vast open plains, wetlands and dried up wetlands providing the hunter with the opportunity to hunt buffalo, Red Lechwe, Sitatunga and Puku as well a variety of different plains game species and in the forest area Simpson’s Blue duiker and the Angolan Yellow Backed Duiker. Certain areas in the Kafue produce some of the best lion, leopard, and buffalo in Zambia.

Each of the different hunting areas have specific species native to the area.
