Description: Crawshay’s Defassa Waterbuck – The darkest of all the Defassa Waterbuck it has a dark grey coat with a prominent white patch on the rump and forward curved horns. Of all the Defassa Waterbucks it also has the shortest horns.
Nyasa Common Waterbuck – A shaggy brownish to grey antelope with a distinct ring on the rump instead of the white patch like the Defassa Warerbuck. It has forward curved, ringed horns.
Sex determination: Only males carry horns. Males are a lot heavier and bigger than females.
Trophy Assessment: Big mature bulls will have whitish colour on the horns and the rings will be well developed. Anything from around 24”+ is a good trophy.
