Distribution: Africa, except the Sahara and south-western Africa.
Size: Length up to 19ft but average between 11.5ft – 15ft (adult) Weight: Avg adult of around 12ft – 450kg can weigh as much as 1ton.
Description: Largest reptile in the world, green to grey and a yellow under- belly. Apex predator.
Sex determination: Females rarely grow bigger than 12ft. Males have much broader heads and muzzle, neck are very thick and muscular, eyes relatively far apart.
Trophy Assessment: A good size croc is normally from 12ft and bigger, a good way to judge is the length of the head in inches = length in feet.
Shot Placement: A side-on-neck shot is always the best choice to go with a follow-up shot in the vitals.
