Distribution: Simpson’s Blue Duiker – Southern Congo Basin, north western Zambia and eastern Angola.
North Eastern Blue Duiker – Central Africa, north-eastern Zambia and Katanga into Malawi and northern Mozambique.

Description: There are 3 species classified under Philantomba: Blue Duiker (twelve subspecies), Maxwell’s (three subspecies) and Walter’s (no subspecies).
Simson’s Blue Duiker – As its name suggests, it is a blue to slate grey colour with reddish brown legs.
North Eastern Blue Duiker – Similar to the Simpson’s with a slight difference in coat colour being slightly more grey than blue.
Sex Determination: Both male and female carry horns, normally the female will have a bigger body than the male. Best way to determine is to look for the scrotum.
Trophy Assessment: Anything from 1” is a trophy.
Shot Placement: A broadside shot with a small caliber is always recommended, shotgun with birdshot can also be used but not recommended.
